Marbles are metamorphosed limestones. Once limestone is subjected to heat and pressure, the calcium carbonate recrystallizes into marble. It has similar characteristics to the limestones and i typically used on the same applications although marble is available in a far wider range of colours
There are several types of marbles including calcites (from calciferous limestone´s) dolomites (from dolomitic limestone´s) serpentines (typically green marbles) and travertine´s (sedimentary limestone´s) . They are all similar in their composition of calcium carbonate and they can all be highly polished.
These samples are just a few of the many types available. All natural stone varies in colour, pictures are examples only.
